Our Founder

Mia is certified by Isabell Gatto, founder and teacher of IGM® Therapeutic Acupressure. Isabell has been a practitioner of the healing arts since 1973.

She worked as a nurse for a number of years before turning her time and efforts exclusively to training in alternative healing modalities.

She studied Therapeutic Touch with its creator, Delores Kreiger. She studied under Waturo Ohashi at the prestigious Ohashi Acupressure Institute, gaining certification. She gained certification in Jin Shin Jyutsu®, studying under Mary Burmeister, the master in the United States. Isabell has also studied reflexology and aromatherapy and is certified in hypnosis, the latter of which she uses primarily in her work with cancer patients. In addition, she has extensively studied metaphysics.

She has conducted a private practice in Hawthorne, New Jersey, for over twenty years, and in January 2001, she founded IGM® (Isabell Gatto Method of) Therapeutic Acupressure, a method that draws the best from all of these modalities, and began teaching the first of ongoing intensive three-day classes, along with Advanced classes.

Isabell is recognized as a Certified Practitioner by the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia, is a senior member of the American Shiatsu Association, and is a member of both the International Association for Human Caring and the American Holistic Nurses Association.
